Mage Pure

The mage pure is simply a pure who only trains magic. There’s only one variant of the mage pure, and that is the mage tank, which is basically the mage pure except with defense. This guide will explain how to train one, how to pk with one, what equipment to use, stats to aim for, and will include a special video showing a mage pure pking. Enjoy!

Training:

For training, follow this guide I made. It should teach you everything you need to know for training a mage pure. Make sure you train your magic to at least 59 before you pk so you can use fire blast.

Stats:

You should aim for the following stats:

  • Strength: 1
  • Attack: 1
  • HP: Eventually 99
  • Range: 1
  • Magic: 99
  • Prayer: 1 or 45 so you can use the best magic prayer.

I wouldn’t suggest getting prayer, as it eats up combat. But many mages get it since mages tend to be lower levels than other pures.

Equipment:

Before you pk, you should be outfitted with the proper equipment. Here’s a list of the equipment you should wear, and have in your inventory.

Equiped:

  • Fire Staff
  • Blue or black wizard hat (if you have the money, buy a (g) or (t) wizard hat, but don’t bring it with you to pk)
  • Blue wizard robes (Again, buy (g) or (t) if you have the money, but don’t take it with you to pk)
  • Anti-dragon shield. It actually gives a small magic bonus.
  • Monk Robes bottoms, or blue skirt
  • Magic Amulet

Inventory:

  • Runes to cast fire blast, a teleportation, bounty locate if your in bounty hunter, and bind.
  • Fill the rest of your inventory with lobsters or swordfish

PKing:

Finally, the best part =) Start by grabbing the exact inventory and equipment listed above. Go to the Grand Exchange in the PvP worlds, as the most people are there. Stay in the central area of the Grand Exchange, since it’s the safe area, and scope out potential victims. Look for people around your level in full rune. They will be the easiest to kill, and will give you the best drops. When you see one, wait for him/her to step into the area they can be attacked in, and cast “bind” on them. Now start to cast fire blast on them. At only 59 mage, you can do 16’s with this spell, which will own these rune noobs. When they break out of the bind, bind them again. Make sure if their binded to attacked them from a distance, so you will not be reached by them immediately when they break out. Whatever you do, never let your victim escape to the safe area. Bind them just before they get there at all costs. In bounty hunter, use the same strategy, except you won’t be able to choose who you fight. Just cast bounty locate, bind, blast, dead.

A mage pure.

A mage pure.

Mage Video:

Watch this for some inspiration.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any good F2P mage pk videos. This was the best I could find. The guy here doesn’t exactly use my technique, but he has 59 magic, and you can see he’s hitting 16’s.

Well, that’s all. Hope this helped!
